How do you pronounce Daufuskie Island?
Daufuskie Island is pronounced as “Da – fuss – kee”. It comes from two Native American terms; “daufu” meaning feather and “fuskie” meaning tip or point. The shape of the island is reflective of a point or tip of a feather, and the Muscogee Indians named it in reference to this shape.
How do you get around Daufuskie Island?
You can drive a golf cart, bike or walk!
Each rental home at Haig Point includes one golf cart (seating 4 people). If you need an additional golf cart, please let the Reservations Department know and it can be added to your rental agreement (there are 4-seat and 6-seat options).
If you are staying on HHI and taking the ferry over, please check in with the cart barn to receive transportation to the wedding events on the island. If you are staying elsewhere on Daufuskie, please ensure you reserve an electric golf cart (no gas-powered golf carts are allowed in Haig Point).
Do I need to charge my golf cart?
Yes, likely! All of the golf carts provided and allowed in Haig Point are electric. This should be no problem, as all HP rental homes are equipped with a charging cord to recharge the golf carts as needed. The cart attendants can answer any questions when you pick up your golf cart if you need additional information.

What is the attire for the Welcome Party on Friday?
For Friday night, we are encouraging cocktail attire - the event will be at the Haig Point Club (so think country club attire). The event will be held outside on the patio. For men, we would recommend a button-down shirt and pants; jackets are optional, ties are not necessary. Ladies should opt for a fun summer dress or jumpsuit.
What is the attire for the Wedding on Saturday?
The attire is beach formal. The wedding will be entirely outside, and the reception will be held under a tent on the beach! Men, please wear a suit (tie is optional). Summer colors, linen, seersucker are totally welcome! Ladies, please wear fun formal summer dresses - florals, colors, lightweight materials are all encouraged! Note that it may be breezy on the water and on the golf cart, so plan accordingly. And we'd recommend block heels, wedges or flat shoes.

Yes! The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will be all outdoors.
Will there be an open bar on Saturday?
You bet! The drinks are on us, the hangover is on you. Get ready to celebrate!
